Savannah Goodman fought back from a slow start to earn one of three individual qualifying spots in Tuesday, November 2, Region 1-1A golf tournament at St. Johns Golf and Country Club in Jacksonville.
Goodman says her game play was a bit difficult to start, but to not give up because of it.
“I struggled getting comfortable with my driver all day on a narrow golf course,” said Goodman who won the District 1-1A tournament with an even par 72. “I have learned from prior tournament play that a lot can happen in 18 holes and to keep grinding on every shot. Goodman’s 77 placed her behind Addy Vogt (St. Johns Country Day) but ahead of Patti Patterson (St. John Paul II) as the three individual qualifiers. The Bolles School won the Region 1-1A team title, followed by Providence and Episcopal.
Goodman will now move on to compete in the FHSAA State Finals on November 9-10 at Mission Inn Resort & Club at Howey-in-the-Hills.
