After rain delay FSU defeats Duquesne 47-7 in season opener

After a 90 minute lightning and rain delay, Renegade and Chief Osceola planted the famous flaming spear in the middle of the field to being the 2022 football season against Duquesne. 

The Florida State Seminoles quickly got down to business with Jordan Travis completing a 5 yard run to put points on the board in the first five minutes of the game.   The Seminoles attempted a two point conversion that subsequently failed to begin the first game of the season with a 6-0 lead over Duquesne.  

Less than 5 minutes later,  Lawrance Toafili brought the next touchdown to the scoreboard with a extra point kick by Ryan Fitzgerald to bring the score to 13 - 0.  Keeping the momentum alive, Treshaun Ward brought home another touchdown and again Ryan Fitzgerald added the extra point to continue the start for the Seminoles in the first quarter to 20 - 0.  

Duquesne attempted to answer with a missed field goal which was quicly answered 2 minutes later with a Seminole field goal bringing the score to 23 - 0.  The Seminoles put an additional field goal on the board to end the half up 26 - 0. 

Minutes into the second half, Treshaun Ward carried another ball into the end zone to bring the seminoles to 33 -0. The second half also saw an intercepted pass by Ryan Webb of Duquesne off of Tate Rodemaker allowed Duquesne to put their first points on the board.  The kick by Brian Bruzdewicz was good and brought the score to 33 -7.   

Trey Benson and Rodney Hill will bring in two more touchdowns for the Seminoles to bring the final game score to 47 - 7.

The Seminoles will meet LSU in New Orleans on September 4.  The game kicks off at 6:30 pm CT and will be carried live on ABC.  LSU is favored by 2.5 points with a forecasted total points to be 51.5.
